Yong Tan is a Malaysian film composer, concert composer, and producer.
As a film composer and producer, his music can be found in movies, advertisements, TV, and podcasts, on major platforms including Netflix and Disney. He has written additional music for a number of feature films, including Telekinesis and All In. He has scored more than 20 short films which have been featured in numerous international film festivals and have won awards at IndieFEST Film and New York Film & Cinematography festival.
As a concert composer, he has won numerous awards and has seen his works performed publicly in Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and the US. Some awards include the Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame call for score, the “Electronic Nights” concert series call for works by Texas Tech University's School of Music, and the FreeHand 3rd Malaysian Contemporary Composers Piano Festival call for score. He has also participated in some music festivals including the 2024 Rondo Festival, 2023 SoundBridge Festival Malaysia, 2023 Atlantic Music Festival, and the 2022 Emerge Virtual Workshop hosted by the Julius Quartet.
Yong Tan holds a dual degree in concert composition and media composition from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He is now pursuing his master’s degree in screen scoring at New York University.
