Yong Tan is a Malaysian film composer, concert composer, and producer.
As a film composer, his music can be found in movies, advertisements, TV, and on major platforms, including Netflix and Disney+. He has participated in several feature films and scored more than 40 short films, which have been featured in numerous international film festivals across the US and Asia, including the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival, the NY Latino Film Festival, NFFTY, and the Malaysia International Film Festival. Some of which have won awards, including Student Academy Award, Best Narrative Jury Award at NFFTY, and Award of Recognition at IndieFEST Film.
As a concert composer, his works often investigate issues of philosophy, social, and environmental, and have been performed publicly across the US and Asia. Some awards include finalist of the ASCAP Young Composer Awards Competition, the Fifteen-Minute-of-Fame call for score, the concert series call for works by Texas Tech University's School of Music, and the FreeHand 3rd Malaysian Contemporary Composers Piano Festival call for score. He has also participated in some music festivals, including the 2024 Rondo Festival, 2023 SoundBridge Festival Malaysia, and 2023 Atlantic Music Festival.
As a producer, he owns a company called 2T Studio Production. With that, he produces songs for artists with his team. Yong Tan graduated with a master’s degree in screen scoring at New York University.
